publican club to the resolution pledging
the club to aid In breaking down the
Statement No. 1 majority in tha legis
lature. At the last meeting of the executive
committee with nine members of - the
committee present, an effort was made
to secure the adoption of a resolution
pledging the club to use "every honor
able means" to secure the eleotion by
the legislature of a Republican senator.
At that time the resolution was laid
upon tha table until the meeting of to
morrow night, though, had
brought to a vote it
defeated.
Much feeling haa been aroused in the
club over the effort to drag the organi
sation Into the senatorial fight when
such action would only serve to promote
discord and disharmony. Influential
members of the organisation are much
opposed td the resolution, deeming that
it waa brought before tha club at the
instigation of outside parties solely to
further th iperaonal ambitions of out
side men. There are many in the organ
isation who do not believe that tha oluh
should be made a party to the effort
now under way to induce members of
the legislature to repudiate the prom-
Uses they made to the people. To do so
would be simply to stir up internal
strife In the club, it is argued, and to
morrow night a strong opposition will
develop against the consideration of the
resolution.
