The, committee of east side business

service on the east side, has waited on
him and has been notified that it will
have to wait some time longer.
The members of the committee were
H. H. NewhalU - E. R. Oellnsky and
George T. Atchley. They have received
a communication from General Mana-
fer Fuller of the corporation "letting
hem dowar easy," as an east elder ex
pressed It today. ' Mr; Fuller promises,
however) that when the new curves
have all been put in, all the streets Im

food for argument among lovers of the
drama In Portland for months to come.
Probably If the question were left
to a popular vote. In Portland at least,
Mr. Farnum, big, goda1 looking and as
much at home In cowboy .togs as Mr.
Farnum la In a dress suit, would win
hands down.
Be that as it may, there can be no
argument as to the worth of "The
Squaw Man" as a play. .It compares
wan the ordinary made-on-Broadway
cowDOy play as does an arc light to
tallow candle. The cowboys, Indians
and frontiersmen are as genuine as if
thev had left the Utah desert onlv vea
terday, and the stage settings are In
thorough keeping with them.

(Special Dlapatch to Tb Journal.) t
Oregon Agricultural College, Corval-
Us, Nor, S. As the Agricultural team
has been engaged In secret practice for
some time very little is known, of its
development. The players that have
been suffering from injuries are recov
ering and the .team as a whole is in
food trim, but the lack of hard prac
lce games , Is sure to be a detriment
to the men in their final contests.
It is expected that the srame with Wll
lamctte university next Saturday will
be a good exhibition of the great col
lege game, especial It as the university
of Oregon defeated Willamette by the
comparatively small score of 16 to 0.
Professor Angell gives a fine report
or me piaying or tne uregon team ana
thinks they are all that newspaper re
port would Indicate.
The O. A. C-Oregon game November
21. is the absorbing tonic of conver
sation on the campus and 3,000 Cor-
