The feature of the strike this morn
ing was the long walk taken by the
crew of the bark Gael which is loading
lumber at St. Johns. Fiften of her crew
appeared before the consul to make their
complaint and as they wanted to sava

Captain Bavery, who came up on the
car to tell his side of the story sayo
the sailors struck out at 7 o'clock this
morning. Immediately after daybreak.

be held before the board of food and
drur InaeDctlon in the department of
agriculture on the question of the pro
priety of bleaching flour. Millers are
vigorously protesting against the state
ments of some of the pure food com
mtssloners to the effect that the so-
called bleachlag process renders the
flour injurious. The process was In
vanied about four years ago and la eald
to be nothing more then a rapid process
of aalnc the flour. The method was
flrat used In the South, Now It Is. being
used to a considerable extent In the
west snd noithwest The process h
been so perfected that It le difficult to
detect in oteacnea irom tne un
bleached flour. The millers declare that
the pfoceea la not In any way lnjurloua

flour t uniform color when It leaves
the mills. Without "bleaching." the
color o.' the flanr Is apt to vary with
