aon. a xoncalia notei Keeper, waa con
victed on a charge of gelling llauor in
violation of the local option law. The
jury waa out 85 minutes. Thla la the
second case of its kind to be tried be
fore a Jury at thla term of court, the
other case being against J. Falbe, a
staurant keeper.
The evidence against Jefferson waa
given by A. C. Rexroad, a local black
smith, and a man by the name of D
Robin, a' local option detective, em
ployed by the state league. According
to their testimony, - they procured the
evidence by purhasing whiskey from
the defendant Irf hla hotel on Sunday
afternoon, October 11, and by two bot
tles purchased of Jefferson the next
morning.

ist-Labor party, which named a com
plete ticket at a convention held Sep
tember 8. has failed to get on the of
ficial ballot for the November election.
September 22 the party submitted Its
list of candidates, but sent no fees to
the secretary of stato and the list was
returned, subsequently . the supreme
crfurt decided that the fee provision was
constitutional and the party leaders de
cided to file only the list of presidential
electors. This list was received today
by the secretary of state, but was re
jected because not filed within 30 days
of the a-eneral election.
