Several railroad men employed In the
Harriman officea In Portland have tak
en examinations for the position of
railway accountant for the Interstate
commerce commission and If they se
cure the required grades will have a
permanent position with the commis
sion. There are to be 76 accountants
appointed with salaries ran (tins- from
$150 to $200 a month. They are to be
used by the commission In going over
the books of such roads as may be
thought to be evading the ordera of the
commission.
