that. It Is understood that stocks of
iiour in the orient are still at low ebb
aitnougn on prominent exporter with
headquarters on the other aid notified
his representative today that stocks
were good.
The advance of lOo a barrel this
morning by a local miller followed a
similar movement of an out-of-town
maker yesterday afternoon. The ad
vance had been expected for some
time and has been freuuentlv Dredlcted
in this report. Although today's ad
vance Is quoted by one of the larger
millers of the coast, some of the In-1
terlor millers did not change their val
ues. They did not pull down their
quotations when th local concern took
16c a barrel off prices and are there-
lore still 60 a barrel above the local
people despite today's advance.
Ground Alfalfa X Taking.
With mill feed nrices higher than ever
before and supplies very scant even at
tnese prices, airaira meal is fast swing
Ing into first place as a feed. Bo-
cause of its low price $18 a ton in car-
lots it Is much cheaper than other
feeds. Kxperts In dairy feeding any
that alfalfa-fed cows produce larger
supplies of cream as well as better
quality

So great ha been the demand
that the mill at Echo which Is the only
one grinding alfalfa at this time, is
running to Its full capacity and is said
to be very much behind In Its orders.
It Is stated by one of the owners of
the plan. that already 76 cars of ai
raira meai cave peen snipped in this
direction.
Wheat Is Firmer Today.
There was a somewhat firmer tone
in the local wheat market today, fol
lowing an improved tone in Chicago
and Liverpool with higher prices else
where. While there was no change In
local, cash values, the market showed
a better buying demand and former
prices held well. On the board of trade,
October and December options were un
changed from yesterday, but there was
an advance of c a bushel In November
delivery.
Oats futures wer weaker on the I
board of trade today and the cash situa
tion Is somewhat duller although prices
are practically the same as yesterday.
An easier demand Is the rule. There
were no quotations on October today
but the bid on November is 2c a cen
tal under yesterday.' The bid on De
cember Is unchanged but the asked
price ha been moved up 2c to $1.A0.
Cash barley Is quiet and the pries
bid today on November delivery was
shaded 2o a, cental. Other options
showed no change for the day.
