Pine Needle Fiber company. The latter
concern was establishing a factory near
La Grande for the manufacture of fiber,
oil and Insect powder, and th contract
of McCarthy and Bruner was ror the
purpose of handling Its products for
five years.
In October, 1904. Pavls. McCarthy
and Norton Incorporated the Hygienic
Mattress oompany for 150,000. Emery
subscribed $10,000, McCarthy a similar
um. Norton $20,000, Davis $9,800. A.
2. Gebhart $100 and J. C. Flanders $100.
The assignee charges that only $10,000
was ever paid in. representing the sub
scriptions of Pavls, Gebhart and Flan
ders, but he asserts that the two last
named never actually owned any of the
tock. He aays that Pavls paid In $100
for each of them and had them elected
as directors so that he might control
and have himself voted $600 a month.
He was also vested with power to bor
row ud to $10,000 without the formality
of securing consent from the board of
directors.
