churchmen in charge of the congress
have abandoned theparade at the urg
ent request of the London police.
Every effort has been made to keep
the abandonment of the procession a
secret but' the facts became known to
day. The parade waa to have been tha
greatest procession of Cathollo clergy
men in the history of the church and
elaborate preparations had been - made
for It.
It is-understood the police were In
formed several days ago of a plot 'to
interrupt the parade and feared tht
the high feeling engendered by the re
cent church controversy 'would result
