five negroes are under arrest here and

of a brutal assault on Miss Kate Kane
here tonight by a negro. The girl was
crossing a dark street when the nesrro
leaped upon her and struck her on the
head three times with a revolver, in
flicting serious wounds. The girl was
unconscious when found two hours later.
The police raided the negro quarter
and arrested 75 blacks. Feeling against
