Harry Amkellan. an Armenian
who sells fruit direct from the
cars to street peddlers as well
as to the commission houses.
was fined $25, the minimum fine. 4
in the municipal court today for
selling melons unfit for food. 4
Mrs. 9. A. Evans. deputy
health officer, found four ped-
dlers selling melons below the
standard. She told them If they 4
did not tell from whom they 4
bought the melons they would be
arrested. They named Arakellan,
who was tried in the municipal
court a week ago. !
Judge Van Zante handed down
his decision today. declaring
that though tlje ordinance under
which Arakelian was prosecuted
does not mention 'car" tn Its 4
title. It covers the case, and
Arakellan could be prosecuted
tha Bame ns though he liad sold j
the melons from a commission 4
house.
