No word of the nrrival of the British
Bteamef Aeon at Sydney or any other
port has yet lx-en received nnd as each
day passes fears for tho overdue craft

boats plying between California and the
antipodes. She had a few bags of mail
for Samoa with orders to deliver them
at A;iin.
May Have Gone to Bottom.
Like the Norwegian steamer Tabor
which sailed hence about three weeks
ago. the Aeon carried a pretty good
elzed deckload of lumber, it being fig
ured that she would encounter fine
weather all along the line at this time
of the year. But, Judging from reports
of vessels arriving here from ports
across the seas, rough weather has
bean encountered In parts where It
should be pleasant at this time. This
leads to the belief that the Aeon got

One Solid Week of Cleaning Up Odds and Ends
The big Money-Raising Sale was closed Saturday night and we find throughout each and every department we have more or less odds and
ends of every variety which we will close out this week at any-price. Some odds and ends are slightly soiled from handling and others

ORIENTAL LIN Kit ARRIVES.

Bringing Light Freight.
The oriental liner Alesla. Captain
F.rnst. arrived at Alaska dock late last
night from Hongkong via Japanese
ports and Honolulu and San Francisco.
Because o.' calling at San Kraiirlsro the
steamer brought very little freight ex
cepting; for Portland consignees.
She will -o out full, however as will
also the liner Arabia which is now
loading at Alblna dock. - The Arabia Is
scheduled tq sail next Tuesday morning.
ALONG THE WATERFRONT.
The British steamer M. S Iiollar
which has been loading lumber at the
mills at l.lnnton for about two weeks
shifts to Prescott today or tomorrow to
take on 200, onn feet of large timbers.
The M. S. Dollar goes to Shanghai.
The steam schooner J. Marhoffer is
loading random lumber at Rainier for
Olson & Mahoneys yard at San Fran
cisco. The lumber is mostly short
lengths.
The British bark Andorlnha which ar
rived at Astoria Friday nlRht In ballast
from Iqultjue Is under charter to Kerr,
(iifford t Co. It was reported that she
came under engagement to Balfour,
Guthrie & Co.
The steamer Alliance. Captain Olson,
sailed last night for Coos Bay carrying
about 300 tons of freight and a largo
list of passengers. The steamer Break
water. Captain ilacgenn. Is due to ar
rive hero today from Cons Bay.
The Swedish society l.lnnen gave a
moonlight excursion on the steamer
Joseph Kellogg last night.

The article, of Incorporation have al
ready been filed with the secretary of
state and the following officers elected:
President. C. W. Nihley of Salt I-ake
City, Who la also president of the t'nlon
Cement company of -Albany; vire-resl-dent.
J. N Teal of Portland; aecretary
and treasurer. Aleck Nlbley of Salt
Iake. The board of dlrertora comprises
alx from Portland, namely: T. B. Wil
cox C. E. ImM, J. N. Teal. L. A. Lewla.
Tom Richardson and J. F. Nlbley; and
five from Salt Lake W. W. Rlter,
Charlea Burton, Joseph Geogehan, B.
Whitney and Ci W. Nlblev.

In about 10 day a when a definite site
for the plant will be selected. Construc
tion work will begin as soon aa possi
ble after the .election of tbe site, which
will be somewhere In the neighborhood
of Portland. The plant to he erected
will have a capacity of l.Onn barrels
of cement per day and it ia calculated
to keep It running day and night. Part
of the limestone will be obtained here
and part will be shipped in from out
side. The rapltal stork of the company Is
$1,200,000.
