has recently secured the contract for
furnishing ties for the Santa Fe rail
road and for the transportation of this
lumber from the Islands, for which It
is negotiating for the purchase of a
suitable steamer. To fulfill the con

voyages a year by a vessel of 6,000 tons
carrying capacity.

The new gasoline launch Niagara,
built for L. Bono, at the foot of Siark
street, wns given a short trial '.rip yes
terday afternoon. The machinery
worked well considering the fact that
it Is new and was turned for the first
time.
The Niagara when completed will be
one of the finest pleasure launches on
the river. She will have a speed of
about 12 knots and will comfortably
carry a dozen people outside the cabin.
