road caught fire at 8:30 last night and
made a blase which could be seen all
over the east side. The house was
occupied by two single men, Palmor and

cause for the origin of the fire. The

court against E. J. Podge to recover
$4,198.63 as damages for alleged fall
tire to transport lumber and box shocks
from Portland to San Francisco and

that the defendant failed to carry out
a contract for carrying this lumber on
the steamers Northland, South Bay and
St. Helens. Much of the material was
