Already prices do not warrant shipping except upon orders. The Brooks association has in its member- hip a large majority of the growers hereabouts, including Brooks, but there are a few outside growers not members or tne association wno are snipping in dependently, and In a measure spoiling the market. The Brooks association has contracted for a carload dally to Portland. It is now proposed to dry the berries and quite a number have already begun the work of using aun and patent dryers. ONE OF SILVERTON'S PROMINENT FAMILIES There are all kinds of thieves, but the meanest one yet is the one who stole the horse that brings supplies to the tubercular patients of the Open Air sani tarium at Mtlwaukle. The poor, bedridden Inmates of the sani tarium depend upon this animal for all the little things that make their hard lot bearable, as without him there Is no other mode of conveyance at the sani tarium. A. L. Mills, president of the institution, owns the horse which he found missing from the barn this morning together with a saddle and bridle. The animal weighs 1.100 pounds, has two white hind feet, long black mane and tail, is 14 hands high and nine years old. It Is believed an attempt will be made to sell him at Oregon City. Oresham, or some other nearby place. USES HORSEWHIP ON PRETTY DAUGHTER Fresno, Cel.. July 11. With tears rolling down her cheeks, pretty 17- BOTSFORD June 15, to Mr. and Mrs. F. L.
