Mr a. Frederick W. Klssell of 134
Myrtle street, Portland Height, died
yesterday afternoon at the afta of. 74
At Bt. Vincent's hospital. She had been
111 for several months. Her husband
and six children survive her. Her
four aons are George C. Klssell of Fort
land. J. O. Klssell of Vancouver, Wash.,
W. V. Klsaell of Verdi, Nev., and B.
M. Klsaell of San Francisco. The
daughters are Mrs. T. F. Davidson of
Los Angeles and Miss Elisabeth Kls
sell of Portland. Mrs. Klssell was
born, reared and married In Pcnnayl
vanla, and waa a descendant of the Ok
den family of early Virginia and
Oeorgla history. She waa a cousin of
Hen Hendricks, vice-president during
Cleveland's first term. With Mr. Kls
sell she came to Portland during the
Henry Vlllard boom. The funeral will
be held from Finley's chapel tomorrow
afternoon at I. o clock with Interment
at Klvervlew cemetery.

In the courthouse yesterday as a re
suit of the last election. The only of
ficlal with offices In the county build
lng whose terms expired are Sheriff
Stevens and County Clerk Fields, both
of whom kept their full staffs and
made no changes. The sheriff and his
deputies, Including those In the tax
collector's office, were sworn in late
yesterday . afternoon. County Clerk
Fields took the oath for his new term
several days ago. Ha has the work
of ills office almost up to date, Just
as he would have been required to
have It If he were turning it over to
some one else. Hla copying force, now
reduced to 10, Is only sight days back
in its wora.

ence of ys T. W. C. A. held at Seaside
a few weeks ago, and a resume of the
meeting of the society in connection
with tlje general conference of the
Methodist church at Baltimore will be
presented by Mrs. J. T. Talbot and Mlsd
Holhrook, respectively, at the third
quarterly meeting of the Columbia river
brunch of the Woman's Foreign Mis
sionary society at Grace Methodist

Declaring that he went to California
In 1909 to escape ehame and disgrace
brought on him by his wife's conduct,
K. KjVG. Seol has answered her com
plain! for divorce and asks for a de
cree for himself. He says hi wife
nas a restless ana roving disposition,
and denies that he deserted her. He
says he intended to have her come
with the children ,to California, but
she would not go. He wants the cus
tody of his three children. 9, 12 and 14
years of age. alleging that his wife.
Mrs. Annie M. Seol, Is not a proper
person to care for them. The Seols
were married In 1888.
East side enterprise has again been
rewarded. The committee appointed by
the Federated clubs recently to secure
new freight and passenger depots has
already received a favorable answer to
their request made to General Manager
J. O. O'Brien of the O. R. & N. Mr.
O'Brien promised the east side that it
should have a passenger depot by the
first of I ho year. The railroad company
Is working on the plans for this now,
and expect to-begln building within 80
days. The freight depot will not ba
built till next year.

that the contractor mav do as he

Replies to the answers in the cases
of Kerr, Oifford & Co.. the Northwest
ern Warehouse company and the In

O. R. & N. have been filed in the cir
cuit court, thus completing the plead
ings In these three cases, Involving the
failure of the railroad to furnish a
