But the little pet got too self-reliant
and one day while In San Francisco
harbor fell off the bridge Into the lower
hold, where the coal had been removed.
One leg was broken, but the limb wa.
pet and now the dog Is none the worse
"for the experience.
. The Guernsey will be In the harbor
about a week. From Shanghai ahe is
booked to go to Sourabaya, Java, to take
a cargo of sugar for Port Said for or-

cidents of Serious Nature.
Although hundreds of .small craft
Were out on the river yesterday, many
maneuvered bv inexperienced hands, no
serious accidents occurred. A rowboat
containing two men turned over while
the motor boat races were -pulled off,
but the occupants escaped with a wet-

when it capsized and one of the men
climbed onto the snag while the other
huntr onto the boat until a launch came

the boat ashore.
. It was late before many of the ex
cursion boats returned and the crowds
were well pleased with the day's out

00 people to the Cascade Locks and
the Oregon Citv boats took several
loads to the City by the Falls. The
Steamer Columbia carried capacity
crowd, to Vancouver and bacK.
A number of smaller craft carried
large crowds to and from the Oaks un-
til late In the evening. The gasoline
boat Eva carried a private excursion
