THE MODERN SMELTING FURNACE.
Built on -tne lines of the old Itever
beratory with the many improvements.
It might be called a reducing convenor,
as the combined energy of the fire cham
ber and the down blowers operate on
tne material and reduce it rapidly, witn
this heating combination the furnace
cannot freese. The down blowers will
operate and maintain, the heat without
the use of the fire chamber. The fur
nace is inexpensive.' The operating
costs are nominal. Six cords of wood.
Or 420 gallons of fuel oil will run a
10-ton furnace 34 hours. The capacity
of the furnaces is from 10 to 600 tons
a day. We have produced 8,000 Fahren
heit degrees with dry fir wood, and re
duce any kind of bullion ores that is
reducible. The blast and ore are super
heated by the waste heat, we have tne
advantage in fuel as we can use wood,
coal, oil or gas. For a higher carbon
fuel we use charcoal and wood or coke
and coaL With the aid of the down
blowers we can burn double the amount
of air and keep up the temperature. We
have spent money and time to bring
these furnaces to the front and they
are fuel savars and heat producers and
can be built any length that the brick
work win allow. Tne neat can oe pro
duced for any length, of time with this
combination. These are the coming
furnaces for reducing low-grade ores.
