.. Baa on Secret Societies.
jMAmong the doctrines advocated by this
sect is that secret societies and organ,
lotions of all kinds are works of the
aevll J and should be avoided by the
faltriful. Sister Crawford, one , of the
local expounders of the falOi. claims
among other extraordinary powers that
of making drunkards giae up drink, dope
fiends abjure the drug Vhablt and even
avers In one Instance that she made a
lodge man give ur his fraternity pin. -
The apostlea hold that all races are
oquul. Chinaman and Jap, Malay, negro
and .white man are all the same. Smug
black John Glasco sits piously beside
SiMer Crawford" a the glory bench
in the main tent of the believers. A
man who had a young daughter said he
would just as soon ahe should marry
a negro as a white man. - One thing,
however, they do resent and this Is be
ing called ''holy rollers." , They say
there is no connection between the
apostlesfsnd the rollers. True, they roll
on the ground but that's only a mani
festation of tne "flaming tongues" whlchJ

; The apostles tiave no government of
any kind, s The only officer is the sec
retary and treasurer, who is chosen an
nually by the "saints" and receives no
salary. The money used to defray the
expenses of - leasing a camp ground
and buying bedulng - and tents is con
tributed voluntarily by the apostles.
They trust their secretary absolutely.
If he wants to there is nothng to pre
vent him from dipping Into the funds
fir his own private use. The saints
have no means of knowing how much
he gets from the voluntary subscription.
They rely on, hla supposed honesty.
