FLOATS READY
Energy and action which would do
credit to a bee hive In the height of
clover - blossoming season are making
things .. hum out at the fair ground
buildings behind the closed doors which
hide from the eyes of the curious the
concluding preparations for the spec

One of the most interesting: and lm-

the "Spirit of tha Golden West"
parade, which will open the splendid
serlea of brilliant pageants. . Tuesday
evening, June 8.
As tne na.ma of this big Initial parade
indicates, its character 'will .be purely
western, with opportunities for un
usually brilliant display, but the festi
val management declares that scsnic
splendors and spectacular effects un
dreamed of are in store for the crowds
along the line of . march. Tha "Spirit
of the Golden West" idea has been
worked out painstakingly and artistic
ally, and the various interesting and
beautiful details of pageantry will com
bine the spectacular with the historic,
covering In its soenlo scope the more
than half century of progress which has
brought modern cities and marvelous
