tee and the Invocation was said by
Chaplain Stephen R. Wood of the army.
A. D. Cutler made a few remarks.

decorating the graves, bringing wreaths
snd bouquets and placing them upon tli-

Much of the credit due for the monu
ment dedicated today at Crystal Ijake
cemetery by the O. A. R. Monument as
sociation of Benton county Is due to S.
I Kline, a leading; ctttsen "of Corvallia
and president of the monument associa
tion, ana to m, w Hunter, secretary.
The monument is entirely of Barre
(Vermont), eranlte. and the statue Is
the only one of eranlte In the state of
uregon. Tne base Is four feet six
inches square and the monument Is 16
feet high It occupies the best position
in the cemetery. The work was com
pleted by the Blaeslng Granite company
of Portland.

This afternoon the beautiful ' service
of scattering flowers ever the waters
in memory of the nation's dead is being
held, being under the direction of the
W. R. C.
A feature of the afternoon was a pa
rade by several hundred school -children,
under the auspices of the W. C
T. U. and in the interest of temperance.
This was not a part of the Memorial
day exercises, but the parade of trt
W. R. C. and that of the children coming-
at the same hour, the latter Joine.1

the strewing of the Truckee river with
