has practically decided to do, Mr. Pas

be obliged to vacate. But the popular

remains of Governor Clinton were re
cently disinterred in Washington, where
they rested for nearly a century, and
will be-reburied Saturday at Kingston,
which was th old home of Governor
Clinton and the place where be took the
oath of office as the first chief execu
tive of the Empire state. During th
greater part of today the remains lay
in state in the historic governor's room
In the city halt where they were viewed
by thousands of people. The front of
the city ball was draped in black, and
tbe flags were hung at half-meat.

M. Walts at Bellfountaln.. Old papers
placed in an open fireplace and burned
caused a small blaze to catch in several -places
on- the roof, only one of which -was
at first noticed. This gave time
for another to get well under headway,
and only for the timely arrival of help'
and the Use of a garden hose the home '
and contents would have been destroyed.
