Dispatch at Rainier.
The wlnchdrlver on the steam schoon
er. Shoshone, a force ef eight longshore
men on a dock at Rainier and two tally
men did some good work one day this
week when they supplied the steam
schooner Shoshone with 598,277 feet of
railroad ties in exactly eight working
houra
It is said that this beats the record
fof rapid work, and it la also said that
the men who performed the trick were
pretty well fagged out when they got

be due the wlnchdrlver because upon
him depended how faat the slings could
be lifted from the wharf Into the ves

at-the winch was so .expert at his busi
ness that the slings never touched any
thing from the time they were lifted
from the wharf until they were set down
In the bottom of the hold. That saved
time.
The Shoshone left down Wednesday
afternoon and atopped at Tongue Point
to complete her cargo for San Francisco.
She crossed out with 700,000 feet all
told, 100,000 feet of which were loaded
at Ltnnton and 300,000 feet at Tongue
Point.

The British steamer Teddo :. which
reached Astoria last Wednesday morn

and he refuses to quit or be discharged.
He has been four years on the Teado,
longer than Captain Gill himself. -
Down at San Francisco before coming
to the Columbia river Captain QUI se
cured a new crew and thought of having
the Chinaman sent back to" the old
country, but the old- lamptrimmer would
not stand for It. He held he had been
on the Teddo before the captain got
command, and so considers himself en
titled to remain If he wants to. And
he intends to, because he is well pleased
with the surroundings and the treat
ment at the hands of the officers.
The Teddo Is at Tongue Point receiv

mula In the harbor in a few days to
finish her cargo, part of which goes to
New Zealand and part to Australia.

announced that five such vessels will
arrive each month with, an average ton

Katzenjammcr Kids Appear in Real
Life at Aberdeen.
".Aberdeen. May ft. Captain Kelly,
who Is staying on board the steamer
Lindsay, had s narrow escape from
drowning as he started to board his
vessel. Returning; from town with bis
arms full of packages he slipped on
the narrow gangplank and scattering his
parcels In every direction, fell into the
water, Striking the sheer boom in his
descent He was stunned for a short
time, but when he came to struck out
and caught hold of the boom to keep
himself out of the water. . . ,
He was unable to reach shors and had
to hold on for dear life until help
should come. Finally two small boys
who were playing on the dock appeared
in view, and the captain hailed them.
They were only 7-year-old children and
the hope of rescue from their efforts
seemed rather remote. But the captain
told one of them to go on board the
ship, fasten one end of a rope and throw
htm the other. Tha little lad obeyed
In every particular, ana the captain was
able to draw himself out of the Ice
cold water after an hour's Immersion,
not Injured excepting for the chill he
had received. The bov was handsomely
rewarded for the reacue. -

There is no longer any excuse or reason for you to be a weak,
puny or debilitated man a mere wreck of what nature intended you
to be. I have cured thousands of men who thought themselves be
yond all hope, who had been treated by antiquated methods and grew
steadily worse under treatments, or who were persuaded to try electric
belts or some other equally worthless devices. That I cured them
readily proves the efficiency of rny direct method of treatment. I
do not dose the system with powerful drugs, but apply remedies of
my own DIRECT TO THE AFFLICTED PARTS, thus producing
quick and permanent CURES.
1 Cure Men's Diseases
I have treated hundreds of men who have long- suffered a gradual decline of physical and mental energy
as a result of private ailments, and have been interested in noting; the marked general improvement that
follows a thorough cure of the chief disorder. My success in curing difficult cases of long standing has
made me the foremost specialist treating men's diseases. This success is due to several things. It due
to the study I have given my specialty; to my having ascertained the exact nature ef men's ailments, and
