New York Symphony Or

Known' Masterpiece.
Beethoven's .triumphant ' optimism is
shewn in a very remarkable way In his
symphony No. J, the larghetto from
which' will be one of the program num
bers to be given by the New York Sym
phony orchestra, under Walter. Dam-
fOsch, at the Armocy during -the Beee
Carnival. This symphony was com-
posed in 1902- under the grim and ter
rible realisation of approaching deaf
ness. It was a period . of deepest de
jection for Beethoven, j In the fall of
this year he wrote the profoundly pa
thetic letter to his brothers known ss
his. will. In It the man who met all
his afflictions defiantly, so far as out
ward seeming went laments his loss of
hearing tn a wail of unparalleled poig
nancy, zet out or such depth of gloom
there sprang this flower, which exhales
nothing but sunshine and happiness.
Two other Beethoven nnmhara will
be given by the New t ork Symphony j

in its entirely, tne crowning glory of
the three programs, in the opinion of
many musio-lovers. The concerts are
to be June s. wednesdav evening, and
June 4, Thursday afternoon and even
ing, at tne Armory, under the direction
of Lois Steers-Wynn Coman. Seat

: When some would-be doctor, - who
got his medical education out of an
encyclopaedia, says that he will cure
you with drugs, you .. believe him
without hesitation.' xou were taught
to believe in drugs. ,-.-v- ?
Fifty , years ago they" thought
bleeding was the only cure for dis

wouldn't have 'it done, yet- doctors
made your ancestors -believe in it.

- Science has made some . wonderful
discoveries since those days. I don't
mean medical science, if you call
that a science. That body of fan-
atics is still groping in the dark
going from colossal blunder to
blunder and championing . new ; ab
surdities every year.. .
But i the , world's greatest scien
tists have proven that the force
which, runs the human machine, the
power- - that ; builds vitality and
strength, is electricity. - -''
They have shown that most' all
sickness and chronlo - disorders are
due to a s lack of - eleotrio energy.
They .have taught ua the worthless
ness of drugs, . that - they are only
poisons and , poisons don't euro, - - "
The reason drugs - don't cure Is
because they don't hejp nature. Na
ture wants nourishment not poison.
This nourishment is electricity. It
puts vim and energy into every part
of your body. It gives strength to
every vital - organ, enabling . each
part to do its work as nature in
tended. When every vital organ is
working right there can be no. pain
or sickness. . . ,.

That there is some functional derangement the direct result of In

treated contracted disorder. This condition CANNOT: POSSIBLY be re
