Lebanon, Or., May 14. The Flrat Na
tional bank of Lebanon, which was re
cently authorised by the comptroller Of
the currency, will open in a few days.
It will take over the business of the
banking firm of P. M. Boroggln & Co.
The nandsome bank building-will be
extended to the alley, and will then be
lt feet long. Tha addition will ba
built aa soon as the materials can be
secured.. ' Borne changes , will be made
on the Interior. The Pacific Telephone
offices wilt be in the west end of the
long building. Mr. Garland's law of
fices will occupy the space between
the telephone office and the bank rooms.
The addition will be of brick or cement,,
to correspond with the present building?
It will be one of the handsomest build- I
irigs in tha county.

Whaley estate by Zaxiah Whaley,
grandmother of Floretta Whaley, who
eloped with "Rev. Jere Knode Cook.
He held that whlla the grandmother
lived, Floretta has no claim to the
$5,000 that represents her portion of the
estate. It is reported that Floretta,
with her baby, came to Hempstead to
attend the settlement, but she did not
put in an appearance. ..

caco, where thev visited Captain Spelfr's
parents - for tho past week. Captain
fcoeler said that the fleet' s appearance
was one of the most inspiring, sights
he had ever seen in a naval way. The
