Where the heart of a, country Is, there Is. always Ufa. The entire,
northwest Is awakening to the fact that "Bajidon" is the bearc of "Kooa."
Situated at the mouth of the Coquille river. In southwestern Coos
county, Oregon, the outlet of the richest timber, coal and agricultural
counties In the state. Bandon, an already important seaport, is destined
to become one of the places which will be a power among commercial
seaports of the Paciflo coast. ' ..
The business portion of the town Is built along the waterfront The
residence district Is on the level plateau which rises abruptly a short
distance back from the river. From this plateau is obtained a magnifi
cent view of the ocean and river.
Its desirability as a place of residence, both winter and summer, has
made for it a name that makes Bandon the most popular home city of
the Orepron coast. With 2.000 energetic people, all devoted to one cause
of building a city and developing a rich back country, postal receipts ara
Increasing monthly, many new business Rouses are under construction,
streets are being graded anfl. -improved; a large, handsome residence ad
dition has been platted and laid out; the erection of new lumber mills
and factories. All point to the wonderful development of what Is now
a hustling little city.
Bandon is lighted by electricity. Ths water supply, furnished by
gravity system. Is unsurpassed for its purity.
Ths large harbor Is commercially Important, with many other excel
lent advantages. The harbor is one of the safest on the coast, ships
ridlntr at anchor as safely as on an inland lake. - 8hlDS of heavy ton-
, nage can easily cross the 22-foot bar, the minimum depth at high tide.
The united Mates government is now constructing a iuv,uuv areuga tor
harbor and river use. . TheSs vessels can ascend ths Coquille river for
, 28 miles to Coquille, from which point steamers of smaller draught
continue the line to Myrtle Point 14 mile's farther Inland. Regular
steamers run from Bandon to Ban Francisco and Puget sound ports. Ths
city is also reached by stage ifom the main line of the Southern Pa
cific railroad at Koseburg or Drain, lJouglas -county, Oregon. An elec
tric railroad has been surveyed from Koseburg to Bandon piercing ther
heart of the fertile Coquille valley. This road will no doubt be built in
the near future.
The Southern Pacific Is constructing the main coast 11ns road from
Drain to the California line, to connect with the Santa Fe at that point.
This coast line will pass through Bandon, no "doubt making this a division
point.
No other land In all the iorthwest has suoh deep, strong charm for
ths lover of nature; no other place could so longingly and persistently
haunt you, sleeping or waking, for days, weeks and years, as the Ban
don country will do. Other things will leave you, but this one abides;
other things may change, but this remains the same. For you Its balmy
airs will always blow, its summer seas flash In the sunlight; the puls
ing of its surf will ever beat in your ear; you will always see its gar
landed crags, its leaping wateriaits, its greal rorests uowmg oy tne

Bandon Is destined to be the summer playground of southern Oregon.
It has the most delightful, cool, invigorating climate. It has the ideal
surroundings for perfect health. This section is free from destructive

Bandon, the little metropolis and pride of ths Coquille valley. Is the
outlet to the sea of what Is destined to be a most wonderful country.
Beautifully situated on the south bank of the Coquille and on the grand

white sand, beautiful to look upon, a delight to all who have trod Its
sands, the pride of Coos county, the wonder of all who see It. This beau
tiful ocean beach, with Its famous caves and scenic rocks, its floor of
white velvet sand, is the most delightful surf beach In Oregon.
"Bandon by the Sea" offers the greatest number of opportunities for
