the great day for the new Jeffries Ath
letio club, for thla afternoon, weather
permitting, the first fight will be given
in the roofless arena at Vernon. The
card is a ti round bout between Jimmy
Gardner and Mike Twin Sullivan, and
while the majority of the local fight
bugs do not consider this a very classy
attraction for a first fight in a new
place. It was apparently the best that
could be secured in the short time since
u was aeciaed to nave a new right club
open durlna- fleet week.
Sullivan -and Gardner are advertised
to battle for the welterweight cham
pionship and a purse of II, 000, and both
men finished their training yesterday.
The scheduled meeting- tonight will
be the fourth time they have boxed.
The first two fights were draws and

There will be but one preliminary, and
