.Mr. Cole, while he will be opposed by
the opporlte class of voters. The In
dorsement of the executive board of th
Municipal association suthorlxed at a
recent meeting is as follows:
"There Is probably no more Important
office to be voted upon at this election
than that of prosecuting attorney. The
honest and fearleaa administration of
the dutle of this office la absolutely
es.mintlal to that preservation of law

"There are sevn candidates for nom

ticket. Of these It la conceded that
Mr. Cameron and Mr. Moser will draw
the bulk of the undesirable vote, leav
ing five candidates to divide the vote
of ihc better class. We believe the
law-abiding cltlxena of this county can
nominate their candidate, but to do this
they must unite on one man or be de

Other Large Cities Have Divorced the

Kavanaugh for the purpose of dis
couraging the people In their conton-

oated by Dr. J. C, Twitchell, Republi
can candidate for coroner. There la
nothing In tha city attorney's letter
of advice, but what advocates of a
public morgue have stated In their ar
guments before the people. It Is true
that the city charter and ordinances do
noi provide ror a morgue, but it is In
tho power of the city council to pass
an ordtnance to establish one. The
county court has the power also to es
tablish one. Furthermore, it can be
brought about by and through the peo
ple In one year. Hence, until this
should be done throusrh anv of the
above agencies, Dr. Twitchell, if elect
ed to the office, proposes to establish
momue at his own exnense. inde
pendent of any undertaking firm, thus
treating all with impartiality. The
supporters of Dr. Twitchell contend for
tne votea of people on these grounds:
That he haa no private Interest to
serve aa undertaker or in the casket
business: Dr. Twitchell's managers say
it is a notorious fact that Dr. Ben
Norden is being: auDDorted by Dunnln

that they have 'spent a large amount
oi money tor nia nomination; ana, wny,
because they have their own private ln-

The coroner should be a physician and
not only that he should not be the tool
of any undertaker.
