Work Soon to Begin on the
Snake Eiyer and Outlook

A fine body of Portland cement rook
has been-uncovered on the upper Snake
river. ? cement experts nave analysed
the rocK and report that from it the
highest grade of cement can be manu
factured. The following from the Lewls
ton( Idaho) Teller gives an account of
the inauguration of work by i a com
pany formed for the purpose of devel
oping the And: V

company- has authorised- the Inaugura
tion of work on th proposed cement
plant to be located on the upper Snake
river, and a force of men Will soon ba
sent to the upper river to begin work on
the foundations and temporary build
ings. -The decision was reached at a
meetinr of stockholders held in Seattln-
last -week, at which time- the election' of
officers - was . held and the office -was
moved from, Seattle to' Spokane.' The.

' 'The outlook for the company Is very
bright,' said Mr. Langan this morning,
'and by fall we expect to have a plant
in operation that will manufacture at
least 100 barrels of cement a day. This
plant will be enlarged within a short
time, and plans provide for actively en
tering the Held for the cement business
of the entire northwest.
" 'The Improvements to be made this
summer will probably cost 376,000, and
the machinery for this plant Is now be
ing selected.'
