Steamer fltrathblane Clears
Record Cargo for Orient.
The most valuable lumber cargo ever
aet afloat here was cleared yesterday
through .the custom house on the Britlsk
steamer Strathblane, the total value be
ne- placed at 1111.065. it measures
mills or tne Tongue Point Lumber oom-
ny and tne .Eastern & Western Lum
ber compsny. It Is not the largest in
poini 01 measurement, nowever.
Ordinarily, a cargo of the above slxe
approaches 'a Value -of about $50,000,
but the high value of the Btrathblane's
cargo is due to the fact that in the
shipment are severs! lots of high grade
dressed material valued at as much as
40 a thousand feet.
The cargo Is to be distributed at Kobe,
Yokohama, Dalny and Calcutta, nearly
2,000,000 feet going to the last named
port It is belna dispatched by tha Pa
cific Export Lumber company, which
concern has two or more staamers of
the Strathblane else under charter to
load here. One of them, the Strathtay,
takes the Strathblane s berth at tha
mills of the Eastern A Western Lumber
company. She has been at anchor in
the river two days.
