Sold Her Rotten Apples.
Mrs. retting of 24 North Fourteenth
atreet reported to the police this morn
ing that a peddler had sold her a box
of apples which, upon inspection, proved
to be rotten, except a few on the top
of the be. She paid the man 11.5
for the worthless fruit. Patrolmen have
been instructed to find the peddler If
possible.

last session of the legislature, has an
nounced his candidacy for reelection.
He says he is In favor of the election
of United States aenators by direct vote
of the people, but la willing to support
Statement No. 1 only to the extent that
he will vote for the candidate who re
celvea the largest number of votes at
the Republican primaries.
Very few of the candidates of this
district have subscribed thenfselves to
Statement No. 1. but Judging from the
sentiments expressed on the, street,
public opinion here la largely In favor
of the measure.
