Salem at midnight last night. At the

and embraced the Catholic faith. He
Insisted on taking a satchel to the Jail

dently fearing to be separated from the
drug he craves.

the lines of the Oregon , electric and
Southern Pacific, Including the letter's
cut-off from Beaverton to Oswego by
which it Is expected to take the steam
railroad off Fourth street In the city of
Portland. This Involves building a new
bridge at a point between Oswego on
the west bank of the Willamette and
Mllwaukle on the east shore.

tho horsemen of Lewis county in the
horse show to be held on the streets of
Chehalis Saturday. April 4. Fine ani

be brought here for exhibition. It is
expected that many outsiders will visit
the city.
FULTON LEAVES

Senator Fulton left yesterday for
Astoria where he will visit his home
until tonight. On Monday night the
senator will open his campaign In Mod
ford. He will then make a complete
tour of the state speaking every even
ing and part of the time In the after
noona. He expects to cover the stale

meeting in Portland on that date. The
