I Six new firemen to be atatloned In

request contained In the resolution in
troduced at yesterday's meeting of the
city executive board by Marcus A.
Fleischner. T. A. Greene objected to
the . passage of the resolution unless
the theatres agree to pay the salaries
of the extra firemen. After a long
debate the matter was laid on the table,
pending an opinion by the city attorney
aa to whether the council can compel
the theatre owners to pay the salaries
of the firemen.

have congregated and alarms of fire

ASKS MAYOR'S AID
TO SECURE BRIDGE
A committee representing the North
east Side Improvement club called on
Mayor Lane and City Engineer Taylor
yesterday afternoon to enlist their aid
in securing a high bridge' across the
river. The committee consisted of about
10 of the leading residents of the north
east side and Judge Munly acted as
spokesman. The situation was thor
oughly threshed out and City Engineer
jayior promised 10 assisi in determin
ing the most feasible crossing place for
the bridge. At present the committee
men figure on placing the structure
with the east approach onenin on Han.
