next council meeting.

The ordinance vetoed required a con
tract for five yeara. , v
Whether the change' will result in se
curing bids for a shorter term than Ave
years la problematical. The Portland
"Railway, Light & Power company,
through its representative, Oskar Huber,
has steadfastly refused to bid for less
than five years and C. W. Miller, repre-

an electric line running into this city
are raised by the aending of a crew to
survey an extension of the Walla Walla
Traction company's electric line from
Freewater toward Weston. A crew of
Ave men Is now at work on the survey
near the Watts ranch, half way between
Freewater, the present terminua of the
