representing Robert; Wakefield of Port
land, who has the contract for the new
Southern Paclfio depot In this city, Is
here today, looking over the grounds.
He announces that actual construction
will commence early next week. Some
of th materials have already arrived,
and some are now on the way from
Portland. An engineer Is here, to lay
off th grounds for the building and
for the track improvements to be made
at th same time the depot la erected.
Th new depot win cost Detween ao,
000 and 325,000. and will be on of the
finest on the coast. The exterior will
be of pressed brick, and the Interior
furnishings will be of tha best materials.
Together with the track improvements
and the new depot the company expects
to expend over 140,000 on the Eugene
yards this year.
William Lever Dead.

Lebanon, Or.. Fb. 28. William Lever
died at his home, eight miles east of
Lebanon, Wednesday of pneumonia, at
the aae of 82 years and 6 months. "He
was born on a farm within a mile of
where he died. He was a young man of
sterling qualities, respected by all. He
leaves a young wife and two small chil
dren, besides a brother, several slaters
and his father. The funeral was held
yesterday, with Interment In Providence
cemetery.
