French Bark Arrives From Honolulu
After Being 20 Days Out.
The French bark Hoche reached As
toria shortly before noon today in bal
last from Honolulu. The Hoche Is
among the best known windjammers
here, having been In the various grain
fleets of recent years.
She made the run from the island
port to the mouth of the Columbia tn
exactly 20 days, having set sail on the
ith of the month. She is under char
ter to carry wheat to Europe and
will therefore help the sailing fleet
of grain carriers counted on to clear
during the month of March. She regis
ters 1,941 tons net and is In command
of Captain Ramet

pital under what appears to be strange
circumstances. He is suffering from
no defined disease but takes treatment
for fear that he might die from the
atrange malady that cut off the lives
of the chief mate and one of the sailors
on the way here from Europe.
