City Attorney Kavanaugh has pre
pared the ordinance prohibiting women
entering saloons, or any place where In
toxicating liquors are aold, except res
tauranta. The ordinance wlll be Intro
duced at tomorrow's meeting of the
liquor license committee by Councilman
Drtaooll. and It la believed wlll be
recommended for passage before the
council at Wednesday's meeting.

ordinance because of the state constitu
tion wnicn pieces no restriction upon
women entering saloons. This point
was overcome throimh a. recant oWia-
lon by the atata supreme court. In which
Judge Bean declared that men and wo
men could be divided into two a-enaral
classea. This gave the necessary lee
way under Which the ordlnanca enuld
be drafted without making class legislation.
Tha ordinance la aimed at tha dealer
and not at the women. A penalty Of
1200 or 60 nays' Imprisonment in tha
city Jail is provided for each violation
of tha provisions of the ordinance

Successful Concert.
The tenth concert of this season given
by Ellers Piano House In their recital
hall Friday night was a very snjoynble
affair. John Clair Monteith, baritone,
unnllad as soloist for Miss Evelyn
Hurley on account of Miss Hurley's Ill
ness. Mr. Monteith sang In hia uaual
artlstlo style, and hia singing waa very
much enjoyed by all present. The Or
chestrelle and Pianola came in for their
share of attention and the numbers were
much appreciated. the accompani
ment work with the ? anola being ex
ceptionally fine. The soloist for the
next recital will be Miss Ethel Lytle.
