Washington. Feb. 7. Tha committee
on Interstate commerce today agreed to
report Senator Fulton's bill to alter the
railway rate law to provide that when
ahlnoers protest against nronosed in
crease the rate shall be suspended auto
matically until adjudicated by the com
mission. The subcommittee had sue-
Jested an amendment -to the Fulton bill
o give the Interstate commerce com
mission discretion. Tha whole com
mittee proposes - further to allow the
commission to suspend tha rate on Its
own initiative.
Hangman's Day in Louisiana.
New Orleans, La., Feb. 7. With four
persons under sentence to pay the death
penalty between the hours of 12 and "3
this afternoon, today is justly entitled
to be designated "hangman's day" in
Louisiana. Ths four persons who are
scheduled to die on the scaffold are:

on May 25, shot and killed Henry Dayer;
John Culpepper of East Carroll parish.
