for sentence, he having pleaded guilty
to a statutory charge. Maggie Cum
mlnga, the woman in the case, did not
appear, It being agreed that the charge

husband appeared to prosecute Ooodes,
who la a Greek restaurant keeper. He
said the Greek had broken up hi. home,

smallpox: "In 3,940 cases of smallpox
occurring among unvacclnated Individ
ual, at all age., 1,758 death, occurred,
riving a mortality of 44.6 per cent.
Among 17,76 casea of vaccinated per
sons, 1,441 death, occurred, giving a
mortality of 8.1 per cent."

district grand lodge No. 4, Independent
Order of B'Nai Brith, will convene In
Portland Sunday, February 16, at" 10

day, upon which day the annual elec
tion of officers will be held.
