It was generally conceded that the de
cision would be affirmed by the su

should be taken to start new petitions
embracing the same provisions or many

ter of an additional conduit to Bull Run,
the meter system and tha new system
for extending mains, the park and bouie
vard scheme and several, others.

C. C. Chapman of the Portland Ad
club was invited 'to addresa the meetlns
and made an Interesting talk. He said
the Ad club took great interest in the
east side now that It waa slkpwtng a
positive tendency to advertise and help
Itself. Any community, said Mr. Chap
man, that was displaying the enterprise
that the east side la could not holp but
gain the sympathy of any live body of
advert liars. .

ON EAST MORRISON
The streetcar company Is taking steps
to Improve East Moraison street be
tween the rails by putting down new
planks, Tha worn planks .on the old
thoroughfare were dangerous to team
traffic and many teamsters complained
of. aocidenta in which tires and. wheels
we're torn from their wagons by being
caught tinder the streetcar rails as the
result of rotten planks.
As it is proposed to , Improve this
street before the time of the Rose
Festival with a hand surfaoa improve
ment the business men alone the street
are hoping that the streetcar company's
work-le not to be a permanent pro
