A GREAT ARTIST
Carreno, who plays here next Mon
day evening at the Marquam Grand
theatre, has frequently astonished the
world of art and music by her vigorous
grasp upon, her particular art, but she
has rarely charmed as she has been do
ing "at nr recent' recitals throughout
the east. Every year. Indeed, she
seems to gain new qualities and from
an extraordinarily brilliant execucant
she has now developed- into the most
nersuaslve artist of the day. The re-
cltal at the Marquam will be under the
direction of Lois Steers-Wynn Coman,
and will undoubtedly be one of the
most brilliant affairs ' of the winter.
There are so few pianists of the gentler
