a closed one, until this year. The law
1s considered an unjust one In its appli
cation here. for. the Link river trout
are especially fine ln winter, and not
really fit to eat during the hot weather,
when the season is open. It Is due
to an oversight on the part of the last
legislature in passing the fish laws,
that this section can eat trout at the
proper Reason, and In strict accordance
with law. It Is hoped the next legisla
ture will make provision for an open
.winter season on Link river and tho
Klamath lakes. '

ey's old-time pal, E. Q. Cordner, Chi

ter of the White Sox has just ordered a
new tourirg car of 1908 vintage. "Jiggs"
came to tne conclusion- that anything
good enough for the boss was stylish
enough for him. and immediately pro
ceeded to learn tbe art of automobile
driving.
Unfortunately for Comlskey, Donahue
threatens ' to become a racing driver,
and has reads overtures to Cordner to
fiermit him to drive on the tracks dur

prison, where some of the most noted
criminals of the day have been put to
death, is about to pass away. The

Bristol. England, Jan. 27. Dr. Arthur
Hyne, the Manchester dentist charged
with wedding and swindling a Bristol
woman named Matthews out of $10,
000. is on trial here.
The police have not yet completed
the case which they expect ultimately
to lead to his identification, as Dr.
George A. Wltxheff, the dentist who
disappeared from New Tork in 1905,
leaving nearly 100 women who claimed
him as their husband.
That they will yet be able to prove
the two individuals one and the same
they say they are now almost certain,
however. Their theory Is that Wltxheff
located ln Manchester immediatelv af
ter vanishing from New York, setting!
up nominally as a uemist nut really
in his old trade of marrying women, ob
taining possession of their money and
then deserting them.
They profess to have evidence that
he victimized at least five West coun
ty women besides Mrs. Matthews In
this manner and think they will find

It is also proposed to organise a brass
band. Dr. IX R. Cambbell. a newly
arrived 'physician an experienced band
leader, will probably have charge of the

money to purchase instruments.

days blasting crews have been at work
