tral orer the upper Mississippi valley
and the, barometer la relatively high
over the Paclno and Rocky mountain
states. The Atlantic high-pressure area
has moved southeastward and Its cen
ter la now evidently at eea off the Caro
lina coast During the last 24 hours
light to moderately heavy rain has
fallen In . northern California, Oregon.
Washington and Idaho, and light snow
- la reported In western Nevada and at
scattered places in Montana and North
Dakota. Local rains have alao fallen
In the lower Mississippi valley. It Is
' cooler In the north Pacific states and
western Montana, and much warmer in
the Mississippi valley and Atlantic
