Tacoma, Wash., Jan. 17. The wife of
a prominent business man of Seattle,
whose name Coroner Stemart of Pierce
county and Superintendent Calhoun of
the Western Washington Insane hos

mitted suicide night before last at the
asylum by hanging herself. The woman
was committed from Seattle two day
ago. in a state of acute, nervous melan
cholia Coroner Stewart says he may reveal
the woman's name following the arrival
of her husband at the asylum. The
woman was 94 years of age and in life
very handsome.

the opening of the legislature yesterday
by Lieutenant-Governor Dunsmuir,
Kawthornthwalte, the Socialist from
Nannimo, endeavored to Introduce a
resolution calling for the Impeachment
of the lieutenant governor for having
disallowed the anti-japanese legislation
of lost session.
The speaker ruled that tha motion was
not sufficiently urgent to Introduce at
