Judge Gantenbeln this morning began
the trial of the case of Edwin Taft, a
6-year-old boyt who is suing the Port
land Railway company for $10,000 dam
ages for injuries sustained when he
was run down by a car at East Sixth
and East Morrison streets In September,

charged that he sustained a compound
fracture of the skull. It Is claimed
that tha car was running at excessive
