The bid of the Centralla Electric A Power com pany for furnishing electric current in thla cltv, which waa turned in to the cltv clerk laat week, waa rejected at the council meeting Tuesday- night, but a contract waa drawn up between the .said company and the city for furnish ing electric current for a period of 18 months at the rate of I cents per kilo watt, with a minimum monthly charge of 1600. The local fruit evaporator has Just closed a very auc cessful aeaon-s run on prunes, curing 'Over 6QO.O00 pounds of green fruit, which nakes over 200,000 pounds after thev are dried. The entire crop in this (vicinity was saved this year, whereas last year perhaps one fourth of the crop was allowed to go to wate on ac count of the lack of drying facilities. Since then the company that operates the evaporator here haa built one at Irving of almllar capacity and other mnller ones have been built near Eu gene.
