season was nearly 80 buahela of wheat,

In his Inspection of the last few days.
Fruit Inspector Richard Dolch has found
conditions on Front street satisfactory,
although in some of the fruit stands
and remote marketa Infected fruit was
found. The proprietors of the markets
where the Infected fruit was discovered
declared many times that their supplies
came from Front street. However, Mr.
Delch stated this morning that it could
not ue determined whether Front street
is to be held responsible.
A sharp putlook Is to be maintained on
the street and all markets will be In
spected from time to time during the
season to secure the trade from Infected
fruit The authorities have decided that

earnest and hundreds of binders are cut
ting down the wheat, while an army of
men are puttjng It In Shock. - The wheat
sown last fall Is ripening up in this dis
trict rapidly, and the crop will soon bo
cared for if the good weather continues.
Latah. Wash.. July 24. Every freight
and passenger train that enters town
from cither direction contains from five
to ten harvest men. Thev are oamDlng
all along the creeks waiting to be hired
by the farmers, but they refuse to work
unless paid from $3 to $5 a day and
board. Many of these men are not
skilled harvest hands, but are above the
tramp order and present a good appear
ance.
