Mora than 100 school teachers from
New Tork and Boston were visitors in
Portland yesterday and spent ths day
sightseeing. They ware delegates to

Educational association at Los Angeles

for Seattle, where they will visit a da

Fletcher Linn, president of the

Through the negligence of Detectives
Inskeep and Smith in not securing the
attendance of all of the employee of
Versteg's brickyard, Tillamook and
Thirty-first streets who were held up
and robbed In the bnnkhouse the night
of January 8 by two masked footpads,
Peter O'Malley, arrested several nights
ago and charged with having been impli
cated In the crime, was given his liberty
in the police court yesterday for lack
of evidence.
Another defendant in the furniture
trust case appeared before Judge
Charlea E. Wolrerton In tha United
States district court this morning and

The funeral of Mrs. Fannie B. Varner,
who died at her home, 936 Belmont
street, was held at 2 o'clock this after
noon from the Sunnyslde Congregational
church. Mrs. Varner, who was (I years
old, had been a resident of the neigh
borhood for a number of years and was
an active member of the Sunnyslde Con
gregational church. Bhe is survived by
a husband. F. N. Varner, and a daughter.
Warrants have been Issued for the
