These eastern hogs are taking the mar
ket, and thsre Is buf little demand for
local stuff. Although best hog are
still quoted at $6.60, there is but little
business at that figure and a drop lu
values Is now more likely than. ever.
For the day 278 head were reported in
the yards. This compares with 61 bead
last Tuesday, 47 head a year ago and
none this date two years ago.
. lambs Sowm Again.
There was a sharp break in lamb to
day owing to heavier arrivala Beat aro
today quoted at $6, while wether ar
unchanged. Receipt for the Z4 hours
were 1,000 head, as against 462 head a
week ago, 469 head this Tuesday a
year ago and 614 bead for the same day
in 1906.
Cattla-Xron at Mix.
While the cattle market continue to
hold at $4.00 for best stuff, it takes
something real fancy to top the market
these days on account of the liberal
run. Receipts for the day at the yards
were 486 bead ss against 178 head a
week ago, 100 head a year ago and 176
head for this day two year ago.
' A year ago today all markets were
strong except cattle; latter was Just
steady.

Values Slide Off Union Pacific
" Loses Two and a Half Points.
There was a sharp reaction today In
New York stock values, 8t Paul losing
1 points, Orest Northern and Union
Pacific 2 points each and like losses
through the rest of the list. The low
condition of bank reserves and the ar
rival of Harvest making a heavy de
mand for money, has a depressing ef
fect upon speculation. London was weak
for Americans and especially ao for the
coppers. This, too, despite an advance
of Ho in the metal price.

Bulls In wheat claim that th north

winter wheat crop, as well as the unfavorable-
outlook for th crops abroad.
The bears say that while the crops are
not what they would like to sea, they
draw attention to th big stocks held
at Chicago, as well as to the liberal
holdings of winter and spring wheat by
farmers. Wheat Is now on fighting
ground
