reason that 'it is true. '
It deals with ona Ster CQradr, until
raoentlp a reporter on a St. Louis news
paper. Several rears Ago Mr. . COrady
heard the buxaln of a preaa agent bee
and went chasing. His flrat experience
was with Innls hand, which' visited
Portland during the Lewis . snd Clark
fair. The press agent accomplished
many sensational stunts while her to
attract attention to Ms band.
Recently he became attached to the
corps of advance men of . Henrjf W.
Bavage in exploiting Fueclnnls opera,
"Madama Butterfly." In that capacity
he reached Butte... Montana, when the
mining town was In the throes of one
-of its periodic strikes. Trie newspapers
were on strtse, -ratner the newspaper
men: the telephones were out of com
mlnalon; Indeed the whole town seemed
to have a grievance. There hadn't been
a newspaper Issued for daya when the
press agent with the Limerick name
reached town. . f
Everybody arms swearing because they
couldn't see a paper or know what was
going on In the world. . It was a trying
time for Mr. O'Orady. ' He was pussled
to know what his chief would say on
learning thst he had accomplished noth
ing by his trip. , "
Then the angel appeared In the form
of an idea. He would publish a news
paper himself, which, among other Items
of Interest, would contain a few brief

terfly." -Immediately he secured the
services of a Jqb printer who wtsnt a

very nearly as large as that and a.
cured enough advertising to pay for the
Insue. , He called the paper "The Butter
fly." The publication contained vari
ous news stories, local snd telegraph,
notices of the other shows that were
coming. -editorial matter, but ehlfelv
articles that pertained -to the Japanese
opera. Ana nearly every one bought a
paper.
