Southern Pacifio to Give Better Service Between Portland and the Bay City. . " An additional train, to make two hours' better time than la now being made, will be put on the Southern Pa cifio between Portland and San Fran eleoo nest Sunday. The train will leave Portland at 11:10 p. m. and reach San Francisco the second morning at 1:41 o'clock. . The train will be a change from the present method of running aa extra section of the evenlna train. It will consist of a heavy oil-burning loco motive, an observation car. a diner, three standard Pullmans, tourist sleep ing car, chair car, amoklng car ' and combination mall, -baagace and express car, and win be officially designated No. 11. Grace Van Ostler, the lT-year-pld girl who was arrested by Officer Longcor at t o'clock In the morning Saturday while roaming the streets. Is still In the county jail, pend ing the disposition of hsr case by the city authorities. When placed under arreat ahe told the policeman that she waa from Dun dee and that her "parents lived t Bet tie but she had been living with her aunt at Dundee. She had been' attend ing school In Corvallls, so she claims, but was persuaded to leave tbe college town and come to Salem by a young man 'named Slyder, who soon deeerted her, and Is supposed to be at Portland. On her arrival at Salem she found employment at the cannery, and later worked at a hotel. - Another girl, who la aald to live In North Salem and who haa been chummy with the Van Ostler slrl, is also re ceiving tha atttentlon of the polloe, and an effort will bo made to have goth I girls committed to the care of the Boys' and Girl's Aid society at Port land.
